EYDI LAMPASONA
Art has the mysterious command to impinge on each one of us differently. My work arises out of life without filters and an inquisitive act of collecting, a fascination with things archaeological, exploring the passage of time and acknowledging its existence. I’m influenced with the ongoing processes in nature - erosion, wear, rust, decay and oxidation of various found and pre-existing objects. While my method is complex - using paint, photography, fiber, found materials and metals, my subject is simple: a wordless language. I weave, distress, layer and sand away surfaces striving to connect those vulnerabilities that become metaphors for our own emotional and physical decline. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to strike a chord with our collective humanity and the constant stream of change, which affects us all.
