National Workshops
Have you always wanted to explore abstract painting, but didn’t know where to begin? Is facing a blank canvas too intimidating? Or, are you a seasoned abstract artist that needs a challenge, than this workshop is for you. During this workshop, you will use intuition, fearless painting techniques and personal mark-making, with emphasis placed on the principles and elements of design. This concentrated workshop will be a liberating experience for those who want to loosen up, create and have some fun too. Explore your inner-voice and learn how to express your feelings, experiences, and personal vision through abstract expression. Through progressive techniques, you’ll learn about color theory, texture, composition, and self-expression as you create artwork using mixed-media materials in acrylic paint and/or collage/mixed media. We will also investigate paint surfaces, substrates, brushes, paint handling, along with color mixing. You will also be shown pours, specialty gels, raised texture designs, paint skins, translucent glazes, transparent washes, along with various styles of painting. At the root of the class is the notion of experimentation. Be sure to bring your largest brushes, your imagination and a desire to explore your originality. All levels welcome.
